India's Apollo Hospitals leading in advanced, robotic surgeries: Seminar

Dhaka : India's Apollo Hospitals Group leads in advanced, robotic treatment, with a success record of operating over 1000 robotic surgeries in the past few years.

Dr Kornad Kosygan, Senior Consultant, Orthopedics and Joint Replace-ment, Apollo Hospitals Group, said this while discussing about Robotics in Joint Replacement and Advances in Orthopedics, during a seminar held on the sidelines of the ongoing three-day healthcare and medical equipment exhibition MEDEXPO 2024 at InterContinental Dhaka on November 7.

Apollo Hospitals Group of India in association with its Bangladesh office Health Connect organised the medical seminar for doctors and general public.

The seminar held in two sessions focused on latest trends in orthopedics and laparoscopic surgeries.

In the first session, Dr Kornad Kosygan, further mentioned, Apollo Hospitals also hold the record of operating the highest number of spine correction surgeries in India.

The hotel also pioneers in proton therapy across India, according to the doctor.

In terms of cost, Kosygan expressed, traditional knee replacement surgery costs from INR 1.5 lac to INR 2.5 lac. However, robotic knee replacement surgery adds a further INR 40,000 to the cost

Furthermore, Kosygan claimed the robot surgeries to have a 95-98 per cent success rate.

In the second session, Dr Jameel Akhter, Senior Consultant, Gastrosurgery, Apollo Hospitals Chennai, highlighted Recent Advances in Laparoscopic Surgeries.

He informed the audience about advanced laparoscopic surgeries on bowels and pilomidal.

According to him, thanks to the advanced laparoscopic surgeries, patients can go back to work in only 2-3 days.

He even talked about the benefits to laser laparoscopic surgeries, which offers less bleeding and more precision.

Finally, Akhter highlighted the advantages of robotic laparoscopic surgeries for gallbladder, hernia, colon cancer, and pelvis, among others.

Robots help the doctors navigate and the infection risk is next to zero, according to Akhter.

Both the keynote paper presenters answered to various questions from attending doctors and general participants.

They also gave free consultation to a number of patients present at the seminar.

MEDEXPO 2024 will continue till Friday,  open for visitors from 10 am-8 pm everyday.
