Dhaka: Bangladesh presented its capital market potential as well as trade and investment opportunities to investors in the United States of America at the “Stakeholders’ Meeting” held by Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) in the US capital Washington, DC, recently.
The meeting was part of BSEC’s ongoing roadshow titled “The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Potentials of Trade and Investment in Bangladesh” being held in many states of the US such as Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, said the US Embassy in Dhaka on July 30.
The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation, led by Prime Minister’s Adviser for Private Industry and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman. They participated in discussion and exchanged views with the stakeholders during the meeting.
Finance Division Senior Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, ERD Secretary Fatima Yasmin, BIDA Executive Chairman Sirajul Islam, and BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam were, among others, in the discussion panel.
Adviser Rahman showcased the strong resilience of the Bangladesh economy even during the coronavirus pandemic while BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli presented the recent developments in the capital market and economy of the Southeast Asian developing country.
The participants also displayed the robust economic growth and investment potentials Bangladesh is currently witnessing.
The panel members also asked for suggestions and recommendations from the participating stakeholders on promoting trade and investment in Bangladesh and its facilitation to foreign investors.
Prominent members of non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs), foreign investors, representatives of development partners, and the US federal entities also attended the stakeholders’ meeting.
Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, provided essential assistance to BSEC and the organisers for the successful organisation of the meeting.
