Domestic flights across country to resume from August 6

Dhaka: The government of Bangladesh has extended the nationwide strict lockdown till August 10. However, it exempted domestic flights from the new lockdown restrictions. As a result, the local airlines of the country announced domestic flight resumption from August 6 maintaining all health guidelines.

The Bangladesh government issued a notice extending the ongoing countrywide lockdown by five days till August 10 in an effort to curb the coronavirus spread.

The Cabinet Division on August 5 said in a notice that lockdown restrictions remain the same for all but two – factories and domestic airlines – who are exempted from the extended lockdown and can resume operations, subject to health restrictions.

Following the Cabinet’s announcement, US-Bangla Airlines has already announced the resumption of domestic flight services from August 6.

The other two local carriers Biman, the national flag carrier and NOVOAIR, another private airline of the country, are yet to make a statement. But they are likely to follow and resume their services on domestic routes.
