Dhaka: Emirates has launched a special Airbus A380 livery to celebrate 50 years of the United Arab Emirates.
The Airbus is one of a collection of aircraft from both the A380 and 777 families that are about to get the livery to recognise the country’s significant milestone.
The United Arab Emirates was founded on December 2nd, 1971. The country was initially founded with six of the seven Emirates that it consists of today, with Ras al-Khaimah joining on January 10, 1972.
Till now, one of the airline’s Airbus A380 aircraft has been adorned with the special 50-years livery.
A6-EVG first flew with the livery on August 15, visiting Frankfurt Airport.
Emirates is not stopping with one plane to celebrate UAE’s 50 years. The airline revealed that the livery would be applied to a number of its aircraft from the Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 families.
The livery is based on the color gold, as 50 years marks a golden jubilee. The words United Arab Emirates 50 are posted on the side of the plane, one side in English and one side in Arabic. The word Emirates is the same design that features on the airline’s other aircraft. Meanwhile, the logo designed to recognise 50 years is contained within the zero of 50.
Rather than using paint to apply the detailed designs, Emirates is applying decals to its aircraft. The airline said it takes three days on average to apply the decals to each aircraft. Roughly 14 employees will be engaged with each aircraft that has the decals applied.
On the occasion, Emirates’ CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said, “The Golden Jubilee-themed aircraft are inspired by the vision, determination, and passion of the UAE’s founding fathers and the incredible 50-year journey… The next 50 years will continue to be driven by the same ambitious spirit to build a better and sustainable future for humanity, and the UAE will lead the charge…”
