Former BCB VP, Biman Director Raisuddin no more

Dhaka: Former Bangladesh Cricket Board Vice President Raisuddin Ahmed passed away today morning in the capital after suffering from a prolonged illness.

BCB and the other organizations in the cricket fraternity expressed deep bereavement at the demise of Raisuddin, who is also a former Director of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

He was also the Advisor of the Pacific Asia Travel Association’s (PATA) Bangladesh Chapter and Executive Editor of a premier magazine called Travel World.

The deceased was 82 at the time of his death.

“Raisuddin served Bangladesh cricket at a time when the game was struggling to take off. It is due to the selfless efforts of people like him that our cricket is where it is today. On behalf of the board I extend condolences and sympathies to his family and pray for the salvation of his soul,” said BCB President Nazmul Hasan in a press release.

Raisuddin was the general secretary of the erstwhile Bangladesh Cricket Control Board from 1975 to 1981. From 1991 to 2001 he served the board as its vice president.

The namaz-e-janaza of Raisuddin will be held at Kakrail Circuit House Mosque after Asr prayers today.
