Dhaka: There are hundreds of hotels, motels and resorts in Kuakata. Yet, sadly, Kuakata is not enjoying an uninterrupted supply of electricity. Load shedding takes place 10-12 times a day while the electricity remains down for even 10 hours a day.

Kuakata Hotel Motel Owners’ Association Secretary General MA Motaleb Sharif said this while addressing a press conference organised on October 12 at Press Club in the capital.

The electric equipment and machines at several business establishments are getting damaged due to poor electricity voltage, Sharif said, adding, this is resulting in losses for many businesses.

Even tourists are suffering over this electricity issue and losing interest in travel to Kuakata, he claimed.

The KHMOA Secretary General also mentioned they had raised the issue to the local electricity office but no fruitful result came.

Hence, KHMOA urged the government to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the tourism city of Kuakata. Since Kuakata has immense tourism potential, these issues must be resolved immediately.

Tourists love to visit Kuakata for its natural beauty, fresh breathable air and the enormous ocean waves. Therefore, the government has taken several initiatives to develop the city. Many beautification activities are taking place on the roads.

Furthermore, the opening of Padma Bridge will make it easier for tourists to reach Kuakata, approximately five hours from the capital Dhaka.

Also, the government has approved a master plan for this tourism city of Kuakata in 2013. Development works are now underway.
