EBL managing toll collection of Chattogram Elevated Expressway

Chattogram : Eastern Bank PLC will be managing toll collection and deposit services of the recently inaugurated Shaheed Wasim Akram Flyover, known as Chattogram Elevated Expressway, in the port city.

Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has partnered with Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) to enhance toll collection efficiency and financial transparency. Engineer Md Nurul Karim, Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority, and Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director and CEO of EBL, signed an agreement to this effect at Hotel Agrabad, Chattogram, on February 10.

The collaboration marks a significant step in modernizing Chattogram's transportation infrastructure and revenue management, said a release.

EBL will oversee the daily toll collection from all active toll booths along the Elevated Expressway, extending from Lalkhan Bazar to Shah Amanat International Airport. EBL will ensure a seamless deposit process into CDA's designated EBL account, strengthening financial accountability and operational efficiency, added the release.

Furthermore, EBL will introduce cutting-edge digital toll collection solutions, tailored to meet the evolving needs of commuters and operational demands, claimed the release, adding, these solutions, developed in close coordination with CDA authorities, are to enhance convenience, minimize congestion, and optimize overall toll management.

Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Project Engineer; and Rabindra Chakma, Secretary, Chattogram Development Authority; M Khorshed Anowar, DMD, Head of Retail and SME Banking; Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Branch Area Head-Chattogram; and Sanjay Das, Head of Corporate Business-Chattogram, EBL, were also present on the occasion.
