Dhaka : MTB Foundation, to commemorate World Environment Day 2025 and to celebrate this year's theme 'Ending Plastic Pollution', recently established a water access hub along with sanitation facilities under the project 'Jol Torongo' for the community of Char Alexander in Lakshmipur district.
The water access hub is anticipated to provide the community with access to clean and safe water, while the sanitation facilities are to ensure dignity and privacy of the marginalized community when they respond to nature's call, said a release.
With the move, the Founation contributes to the country's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) three (good health and well-being), six (clean water and sanitation) and fifteen (life on land).
The project aims at catering to a large underprivileged segment of Char Alexander by resolving the region's long-standing safe water and sanitation crisis, added the release.
Samia Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer, and Golam Rabbani, Associate from MTB Foundation, among others, were present at the event.
