Dhaka: Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways has been dubbed the most punctual airline in Asia-Pacific region in 2023, with an on-time performance rate of 82.75 per cent, followed by Japan Airlines (82.58 per cent). Budget carrier Thai AirAsia bagged the third position with an on-time performance score of 82.52 per cent, as per travel data analytics firm Cirium.

India’s low-cost airline Indigo upped one place to the 4^th position with an on-time performance rate of 82.12 per cent. It may be mentioned here that the airline became the first Indian carrier in 2023 to carry 100 million passengers in a calendar year, as per reports.

Globally, the most punctual airline in 2022 was Colombia’s Avianca Airlines, with an on-time performance rate of 85.73 per cent, followed by Brazil’s Azul Airlines (85.51 per cent) while Qatar Airways came in third with an 85.11 per cent rate.

Also, Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport clinched the title of the world’s most punctual airport in 2023.

According to Cirium, an airline’s on-time performance is calculated by whether the plane arrives at the gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time and if it departs within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure time.
