Dhaka: Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi in Muscat to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments on April 23.
During the meeting, Minister Rahman conveyed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's gratitude to Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his role in bringing a Gulf crisis to a peaceful resolution. Both ministers urged concerned parties to pursue dialogue and diplomacy for a lasting settlement.
The Bangladeshi minister expressed appreciation for Oman hosting over 700,000 Bangladeshi nationals, while the Omani minister praised the contributions of Bangladeshis to the country's development and daily life.
The two sides discussed expanding bilateral economic and business ties, with a focus on pharmaceuticals, food and agriculture, and port logistics.
Rahman also extended a formal invitation to his Omani counterpart to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, Humaiun Kobir, was also present at the meeting.
