Dhaka: Cathay Pacific has temporarily suspended all flights between Hong Kong and Kathmandu from Monday, September 15 to Tuesday, September 30, 2025, following a safety assessment of conditions in Kathmandu.
According to the airline, the decision was taken "out of an abundance of caution" and services are expected to resume on Wednesday, October 1.Impacted passengers have been offered full flexibility under the airline's ticket-waiver policy, with options to rebook for travel from October 1 onward or request a refund.
Despite these measures, Cathay Pacific acknowledged that limited alternative flights may make rebooking challenging.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes to our customers and their travel plans and we appreciate their understanding," the airline said in a statement.
Sources indicated the suspension followed an incident in which Cathay Pacific staff were allegedly manhandled by protesters during vandalism at Hotel Hyatt in Kathmandu.
