E-boarding gates introduced at Delhi Airport

Dhaka: Departing passengers at Delhi Airport can now enjoy contactless, seamless travel as e-boarding gates have been launched across all three of its terminals.

The development follows the government’s Digital India campaign which led the Delhi International Airport authorities to introduce e-boarding facility to ensure seamless travel for departing passengers.

“All boarding gates have contact-less e-boarding gates with boarding card scanners, which will allow passengers to flash their physical or e-boarding cards to verify flight details and once done, they can proceed for security checks. E-gates are empowered by touchless technologies. Passengers who have verified their boarding passes by scanning at the e-gates can simply walk past the e-boarding gates for security checks and then board a flight without having to show their documents again,” said Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, Delhi International Airport.

E-boarding gates are already operational at Terminal Three and Two while deployment is on process at Terminal One.

Airport authorities said passengers with hand luggage can use the normal lane e-gates while passengers with reduced mobility due to big luggage can pass through the e-gates easily.

Also, due to the touchless procedure, boarding time of the passengers will now be shorter, by 50 per cent, resulting in lower queues. This new introduction has also improved security aspects as boarding card details are verified with the airlines back office.
