First ever Jewellery Expo begins at ICCB

The historic and first ever Bangladesh Jewellery Expo-2022 started at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Thursday, commemorating the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) organised the expo to showcase the country’s Jewellery products and potential of the sector across the globe. 

The leading jewellers from capital Dhaka and other parts of the country have taken part in the exhibition and displayed their products.

Noted novelist and a director of East West Media Group Limited Imdadul Haq Milan inaugurated the expo through a grand gala ceremony at the ICCB.

 

Dr Dilip Kumar Roy, former president of BAJUS, Enamul Haque Khan, his predecessor, Gulzar Ahmed, vice-president, MA Hannan Azad, vice-president, Dulal Chandra Roy, vice-president, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, vice-president, and Anisur Rahman, vice-president, were president on the occasion.

 

BAJUS general secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala anchored the inaugural session of the expo while Treasurer Uttam Banik delivered welcome address.

The leaders of the BAJUS said they organised the expo with advice from and patronisation of association’s incumbent president Anvir marking the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

They paid deep respect to Bangabandhu on his birthday saying that had he not liberated the country, the businessmen would have not been able to come to this position and organised the expo.

 

BAJUS leaders also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for announcing a gold policy to revamp the country’s Jewellery business.

Having inaugurated, the fair stalls attracted significant number of visitors and crowds with festive mood prevailing in the fair compound in the ICCB.

The fair will remain open for the visitors from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day, sources said.

The fair organiser has arranged raffle draw for the visitors. The first prize will be Tk 10 lakh and second prize Tk 5 lakh. The 10 third prize winners will get Tk 1 lakh each. A separate raffle draw will be held for the journalists.

Besides, various jewellers are giving attractive offers and discounts at the fair.
