Dhaka: A free thalassaemia carrier screening and awareness camp help was organised by First Security Islami Bank Ltd and Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives jointly at Ruqayyah Hall, Dhaka University on January 8.
Thalassemia is a deadly disease that is transmitted through parents. It can be prevented if one thalassemia carrier does not marry another thalassemia carrier. That’s why, it is important for every person who are planning to marry to get a thalassemia test done prior.
Dr Firdausi Qadri, Laureate of Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021 and Lead, Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives, Syed Waseque Md Ali, Managing Director, First Security Islami Bank Ltd, Prof Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, Cumilla University, Prof Dr Zeenat Huda, Provost, Ruqayyah Hall and Pro Dr Sharmin Rumi Alim, Institution of Nutrition and Food Science, Dhaka University were present on the occasion.
