Dhaka: Malaysia is opening online application for recruiting migrant workers in plantation sector with special exemption from January 28, said Datuk Seri M Saravanan, Human Resources Minister of Malaysia.
Also, application for other sectors without special exemption will be opened from February 15, added reports.
The applications will be accepted through the Malaysian government’s official website: www.fwcms.com.my.
Malaysia had granted a special approval to bring in 32,000 expatriate workers through special exemption in September 2021 with a view to meeting the labour shortage in the plantation sector of the country.
On the other hand, at a Cabinet meeting in December, 2021, they agreed to open migrant labours recruitment for sectors: agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction and domestic helpers.
Saravanan also reminded employers to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the admission of expatriate labours set by the Malaysian government which covers four phases: pre-release, on arrival, after arrival (quarantine) and post-quarantine.
All migrant labours are required to undergo quarantine for seven-days during which they will be screened for Covid-19 twice while the employer will bear the cost, mentioned Saravanan.
He further added that all quarantine centres including hotels designated for quarantine purposes were in the Klang Valley. These centres could accommodate 10,000 people at once. Therefore, Saravanan urged more parties to offer quarantine facilities.
