Dhaka: Sweden has removed the requirement of a negative RT-PCR test done before entering the country for international arrivals. The new development was announced on January 18 by the Swedish government.
The government in statement said, "Travellers are no longer considered to pose a particular risk of affecting the spread of Omicron in Sweden."
Sweden has reported around 20,000 daily Covid cases over the past few days, around double the previous record from earlier waves.
The growing number had posed many difficulties on healthcare services, however, not to the same extent as before the vaccine rollout.
In December 2021, Sweden imposed some strict travel restrictions due to the rise in Omicron cases. The Swedish government had asked all tourists arrivals to carry a negative Covid-19 test report (not older than 48 hours), regardless of their vaccination status.
Hence, now, the new move comes as a relief for travellers and holidaymakers wishing to visit Sweden.
