No New Year's outdoor event in Cox’s Bazar this time

Dhaka: There will be no outdoor event this year celebrating the arrival of the new year 2022 in Cox's Bazar. This time, the law enforcement agencies have undertaken extra precautions to ensure the safety of tourists in the popular beach destination.

Also, the district administration has formed a special monitoring cell with a view to maintaining law and order in the tourism hub.

Moreover, the tourist police have taken several security measures to ensure the safety of tourists.

Yet, tourists are visiting Cox's Bazar to enjoy the last sunset of 2021, as well as the first sunrise of 2022.

On the other hand, there will be various indoor events at hotels to welcome the new year.

Abul Kashem Sikder, General Secretary of Cox's Bazar Hotel Motel Guest House Owners' Association, said that 70 to 80 per cent rooms have been booked so far this year on the occasion of New Year's Eve.

At the same time, the hotels, motels and guest houses are offering special discounts to mark the New Year celebration.

Mohammad Moslemuddin, Additional DIG of Tourist Police of Chattogram Division, said that tourist police are working for the overall security in Cox's Bazar.

The law enforcement agencies are on high alert after the recent rape incident in the tourist hub.
