Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan on January 15 announced to ban inflight meals onboard following the directives of the National Command and Operation Centre to contain the spread of the new coronavirus variant Omicron from January 17.
“Amid rising Omicron cases across the country, the NCOC bans serving meals/snacks onboard domestic flights and public transport effective from January 17,” the authority said on its Twitter account.
The country’s National Command and Operation Centre at a meeting on January 15 discussed the epidemic curve chart data and disease prevalence following rising disease trends especially in urban centres of Pakistan so that they can take necessary steps to tackle the situation.
The CAA was also asked to ensure inflight mask wearing by passengers and crew as well as to implement Covid related SOPs at all airports.
Furthermore, the forum asked the concerned authorities to take strict measures against those who violate the SOPs specially mask wearing.
