US-Bangla resumes flights to Chennai and Kolkata

Dhaka: US-Bangla Airlines has resumed scheduled flights on Dhaka-Chennai-Dhaka, Chittagong-Chennai-Chittagong and Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka routes from Wednesday ,October 28 under Air Bubble Agreement between Bangladesh and India.

The two flights were officially inaugurated at the terminal building of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Shri Vikram K Doraiswami was present as the Chief Guest at the inaugural function. Also, present was Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman as special guest. The ceremony was presided over by Capt. Sikder Meabahuddin Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of US-Bangla Airlines.

Under the Air Bubble Agreement, US-Bangla Airlines has started operating flights from Dhaka to Chennai and from Kolkata and Chittagong to Chennai as per the state decision of the two countries in compliance with all health regulations during the COVID-19 period.

US-Bangla Airlines flight will leave Dhaka for Kolkata at 9.45 am six days a week except Monday and arrive in Kolkata at 10.15 am local time. Besides, it will leave Kolkata at 11 am local time and arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 12:30pm.

US-Bangla Airlines will leave Dhaka for Chennai at 10.30 am every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and land in Chennai at 12.40 pm local time. It will leave Chennai for Dhaka at 1.30 pm on the same day and will arrive in Dhaka at 4.40 pm. Besides, US-Bangla Airlines will operate flights from Dhaka to Chittagong via Chennai and from Chennai to Chittagong every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. It will leave Dhaka at 9 am and from Chittagong at 10.30 am for Chennai and leave Chennai at 1.30 pm and reach Chittagong at 4.40 pm and Dhaka at 6.15 pm.

The 164-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft will operate flights to Chennai and Kolkata. The US-Bangladesh fleet currently has a total of thirteen aircraft, including four Boeing 737-800s and six brand new ATR2-600s. Apart from Chennai and Kolkata, US-Bangla Airlines currently operates flights to Muscat, Doha, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Guangzhou. Besides, domestic routes are operating daily flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Jashore, Saidpur, Rajshahi and Barishal.

Journalists from various media, including senior officials of the Civil Aviation Authority, US-Bangla Airlines and other airlines, were present at the inaugural ceremony of the re-opening flight on the Chennai and Kolkata routes.
