Dhaka: The country’s electronic conglomerate Walton launched its own e-commerce platform on December 19. The platform called "Walcart" was launched at the company’s headquarters in the capital.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister of ICT, was present at the launching ceremony as the chief guest.

Sabiha Jarin Orona, Managing Director of Walcart, in her welcome address, said that they aim to be a sustainable and reliable e-commerce platform in the local market, with plans to go global in the future.

Currently, customers can purchase nearly 150 products through the platform.

The launch ceremony of the e-commerce platform was also attended by S M Nurul Alam Rezvi, Chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries; Golam Murshed, Managing Director and CEO of Walton Hi-Tech Industries; SM Manjurul Alam Ovi, Chairman of Walcart; Shahid-Ul Munir, President of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS); and Syed Almas Kabir, President of BASIS; Shomi Kaiser, President of e-Cab, among others.
