Bahrain Int'l Airport : New ME hub to handle 14m passengers yearly

Bahrain : The Bahrain International Airport, an expansion project of the country's Vision 2030 economic programme, has recently been named as the worlds Best New Airport at the Skytrax 2022 World Airport Awards. The new terminal, opened in January 2021, has an annual capacity of 14 million passengers, four times more than the previous one and has 104 counters to process arrivals, 24 self check in kiosks, 44 migration counters, 22 e-gates, 24 departures and 5500 parking spaces. 
The new airport terminal, equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology, has 3,300 square meters of duty free space, 21 cafes and restaurants, a hotel, spa and souq. It also features traditional Bahraini art and sculptures throughout the terminal. Built at a cost of USD 1.1 billion, the airport expansion project is one of the kingdom's largest national development projects in the sector in last 20 years. 
Meanwhile, a recent report shows that almost three million passengers passed through Bahrain International Airport during first half of this year. 
The airport expects to serve 6.5 million passengers by end of the year. 
Magnificent Pearl Lounge 
The Pearl lounge of the new Bahrain International Airport has recently been certified as a five-star lounge by the international airport rating agency Skytrax. It occupies a total area of 2,690 sqm, having a seating capacity for almost 450 premium customers. It is divided into ten individually crafted areas, each offering a distinct ambience. 
The main lounge area has a variety of cosy seating arrangements with comfortable arm chairs and sofas with side tables. 
There is a dedicated family zone, game lounge and library for the book lovers. 
A wide range of hot and cold buffets are on display round the clock, while one can order from the a la carte menu as well. Freshly cooked pizza and pasta options are being served from the Farno Italian live kitchen. 
There are two well equipped shower rooms for the lounge guests, fitted with all modern amenities. The guests have direct lift access to Bahrain Airport transit hotel. 
The Pearl lounge is a perfect place to unwind after a long flight. It offers travellers a luxury retreat before getting onboard.
