Dhaka : Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of Jet A-1 (jet fuel) for both domestic and international airlines, effective October 9.
As per the new circular, the cost of Jet A-1 fuel for domestic carriers has increased by BDT 3.02 per liter, bringing the price to BDT 99.29, up from BDT 96.09. For international airlines, the price per liter has risen by USD 0.0212, from USD 0.6333 to USD 0.6545.
The adjustment is based on the Platts Rate with BERC citing the average rate from September 5 to October 4, 2025 as the reason for the price hike.
With the hike in jet A-1 price, air ticket prices for both domestic and international-bound passengers might be dearer, market insiders said.
It may be mentioned here, earlier, BPC used to fix the price unilaterally following the instruction from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division (EMRD) under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR).
BPC usually imports around 600,000 tons of jet A-1 fuel annually to meet the demands of both domestic and international flights being operated by local and international airliners.
