Istanbul : Turkish Airlines has announced a landmark fleet expansion agreement with Boeing as part of its long-term growth strategy and 2033 Vision, which coincides with the carrier's 100th anniversary.
Under the new deal, the airline will acquire a total of 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners - a mix of 50 firm orders and 25 options for the 787-9 and 787-10 models - to be delivered between 2029 and 2034. In addition, Turkish Airlines has finalized negotiations with Boeing for the purchase of 150 single-aisle 737-8 and 737-10 MAX aircraft, comprising 100 firm and 50 optional orders, pending the conclusion of engine supply discussions with CFM International.
Negotiations are also ongoing with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace regarding engine selection for the 787 Dreamliners.
The agreement underscores the strong partnership between Türkiye and the United States, as well as the long-standing collaboration between Turkish Airlines and Boeing. It represents a major step toward Turkish Airlines' ambition of expanding its fleet beyond 800 aircraft by 2033, with next-generation, fuel-efficient jets accounting for 90 percent of the total fleet by 2033 and 100 percent by 2035.
Turkish Airlines currently operates over 200 Boeing aircraft, including the 787-9, 777, 737 MAX, and 777 Freighter models. The addition of the larger 787-10 variant will further improve efficiency, offering up to 25 percent fuel savings while boosting both passenger and cargo capacity on high-demand long-haul routes connecting the US, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
The new 737 MAX aircraft, meanwhile, will enhance operational flexibility on short- and medium-haul routes, contributing to greater efficiency and sustainability.
