Dhaka : The United Kingdom expressed its interest in assisting with the operation and maintenance work of the world-class Third Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke shared this while she met Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman on July 27 at the latter's head office in the capital.
Sarah Cooke also assured cooperation in the development of infrastructure in the aviation sector of Bangladesh in the future, including the purchase of new aircraft.
At the end of the talks, the British High Commissioner expressed hope that the communication in the field of aviation between the two friendly countries would be further enhanced.
During the meeting, the officials also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in developing skilled manpower in the aviation sector, especially in the security sector.
It was also discussed to request the airlines of the countries to further enhance the connectivity between the two countries.
CAAB Chairman also called upon the United Kingdom to resume aviation security activities that were suspended by the country's Department for Transport (DFT) amid the pandemic.
The highly anticipated third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be partially inaugurated in the first week of October, 2023.
The terminal is scheduled to be fully operational by 2024.
