Dhaka : Following a successful tenure as Robi's Managing Director and CEO for five years, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed has announced not to renew his contract. His term with Robi will officially end on October 31 in 2021. However, he has announced to go on leave with immediate effect.
"With a heavy heart, I would like to share with you that I have decided not to renew my contract with Axiata which is due to expire on October 31, 2021, till which time I will be on official leave as I am in Australia at present. Every great journey comes to end; and my glorious journey with Robi has come to an end too!" Ahmed said in a statement.
Robi's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), M Riyaaz Rasheed, in addition to his current role as CFO, will serve as the acting CEO with immediate effect, said a press release.
Chairman of Robi Board of Directors Thayaparan Sangarapillai, said, "On behalf of the Robi Board of Directors, I would like to thank Mahtab for establishing Robi firmly as the leading digital service provider of the country."
As Robi's first home-grown CEO, Ahmed took the company to the dizzying height of success that includes achieving leadership position in 4G, a number of path-breaking innovative digital initiatives, the biggest ever IPO, etc, the press release added.
He leaves behind Robi on a strong foundation to transform itself into the digital champion of the industry through leadership in digital innovation, the press release further mentioned.
