Dhaka: Hacktivist group Anonymous has taken credit for breaching the website of Global Crossing Airlines (GlobalX), a Miami-based charter carrier involved in U.S. deportation flights. The cyberattack, which defaced a subdomain of the company’s website, was carried out in protest of GlobalX’s alleged defiance of a judicial order halting certain deportation flights.
The attackers left a message on the site accusing GlobalX of aiding in what they called “fascist plans” and claimed to have obtained sensitive information such as passenger lists, flight schedules, and manifest details covering deportations between January 19 and May 1, 2025. Journalists from 404 Media and TechCrunch confirmed the authenticity of the leaked data, which reportedly included Venezuelan nationals deported via El Salvador.
Anonymous, known for its politically charged cyber campaigns, framed the hack as a response to GlobalX’s continued participation in controversial deportation flights despite legal rulings. The data breach raises serious concerns about privacy, corporate responsibility, and the broader ethical implications of private firms supporting government deportation efforts.
Although the affected website was quickly restored, GlobalX has not issued any public response. The incident underscores the risks companies face in politically sensitive sectors and the growing impact of hacktivism on public discourse and corporate accountability.
