Bangladesh, Pakistan discuss launch of ferry service to boost maritime cooperation

Dhaka: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, held a significant meeting with Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan to explore ways to enhance maritime cooperation between the two countries, including the launch of a ferry service.

During the meeting, both sides considered a proposal to start a direct ferry service between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Minister Chaudhry said the initiative would substantially increase tourism and promote bilateral trade activities.

The two leaders also discussed the establishment of a direct shipping line aimed at strengthening commercial ties. They emphasized that enhanced maritime connectivity would provide a new dimension to bilateral trade and contribute to greater economic stability in the region.

Expressing his commitment to deepening economic collaboration, Minister Chaudhry agreed to take practical steps to expand trade and economic cooperation. He stated that Pakistan seeks to transform its historical relations with Bangladesh into a strong and sustainable economic partnership.

Both sides reaffirmed their determination to elevate maritime cooperation to new heights and explore further opportunities for mutual growth.
