BATA, BIRBA co-host seminar on youth engagement in adventure, golf tourism

Dhaka: Bangladesh Adventure Tourism Association (BATA) and Bangladesh Integrated Rural Based Association (BIRBA), in association with Arunima Resort Golf Club, organized a seminar titled "Youth Engagement in Promoting Adventure & Golf Tourism" at the HR Sinha Lounge of Dhaka Club in the capital yesterday.

Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism, attended the seminar as the chief guest, while Saima Shahin Sultana, Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC), and Md. Aminul Islam NDC, Secretary of National Sport Council (NSC), were present as special guests, along with Moshiur Khandaker, Secretary General of BATA; Irfan Ahmed, General Secretary of BIRBA; and Khabir Uddin Ahmed, Chairman & Managing Director of Arunima Resort Golf Club (ARGC).

Muhammad Abdur Rahim Khan, Advisor of BIRBA and Senior Faculty & Wing Chief of Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM), presented the keynote of the seminar. The keynote highlighted the challenges the Bangladeshi young population is facing and clarified how adventure and golf tourism might help them to restore confidence and pursue a prosperous career. It also identified the limitations that constrain adventure tourism in Bangladesh and proposed measures to overcome them.

After the keynote delivery, other speakers at the seminar, experts and professionals in the travel, tourism, golf, and adventure tourism industries, presented their opinions on this. In addition to this, they discussed the current challenges the industry and individuals are facing, the state of golf in the country, and the unique approaches the government could undertake to popularize adventure tourism in Bangladesh.

The seminar concluded with a closing speech from the Chief Guest Nasreen Jahan. During the speech, the chief guest inspired new initiatives to follow in the footsteps of countries that have already established a strong industry in golf tourism and mentioned the government's ongoing efforts to establish a coherent policy that would incorporate all sorts of tourism, including golf and adventure.
