Dhaka: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Saturday, March 14, directed airlines operating from the country to depart with the minimum required fuel load, citing supply constraints caused by the ongoing Middle East conflict.

In a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), the PAA acknowledged disruptions to jet fuel A-1 availability stemming from the regional situation. Airlines were advised to uplift as much fuel as possible from airports abroad.

The NOTAM will remain in effect until March 31.

The advisory follows a sharp hike in jet fuel prices in Pakistan. Authorities raised the price by PKR 154 per liter, pushing it from PKR 188.93 to a record PKR 342.37 per liter, an increase of roughly 82%.

The supply concerns were triggered after a US-Israeli attack on Iran, which prompted Tehran to announce the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route.

Separately, the PAA issued another NOTAM concerning flight operations at Islamabad and Lahore airports on March 16. The authority announced a temporary closure of six sectors of the Lahore Flight Information Region.

Commercial aircraft will not be permitted to land or depart from Islamabad International Airport between 08:30 PKT and 10:30 PKT on March 16. Flights already airborne during the restricted window may be required to hold before landing.
