Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called a review meeting to discuss matters related to the opening of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's Third Terminal at the Bangladesh Secretariat's Cabinet Conference Room today, February 22.

A notice from the Prime Minister's Office, signed by Director Fahmid Farhan, said Prime Minister Rahman would chair the meeting, scheduled to be held at 12:00 pm.

Minister and State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Chief Executive Officer of Public Private Partnership (PPP) Authority at Prime Minister's Office, Secretary of Finance Division and Sectretary of Economic Relations Division at Ministry of Finance, Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority are attending the meeting.

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's Third Terminal, which was partially inaugurated in October 2023, was expected to begin operations within a year. However, prolonged delays in decision-making regarding issues, including logistics, ground handling, training, and system calibration, have deferred the terminal's launch.

The review meeting is expected to assess the progress of the remaining works, address the bottlenecks causing the delay, and set a revised timeline for the terminal’s full-scale operations.
