Sheikh Bashir Uddin relieved of duties as Biman Board Chairman

Dhaka: The government has relieved Sheikh Bashir Uddin from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited, according to an official notification.

The notification, issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, on February 17, said, the decision was taken in line with his expressed intention.

The move was made under the powers vested in the government by Section 30(c) of the Bangladesh Biman (Repeal of the Bangladesh Biman Order, 1972, Re-enactment and Amendment) Act, 2023.

The order stated that the decision was taken in the public interest and will take effect from the date of its issuance.

At the time, Sheikh Bashir Uddin was serving as an Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The notification was issued by the ministry’s Aviation-1 wing and signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Mosammat Shakila Parvin on behalf of the President.
