Air cargo demand growth eases in September

Dhaka: Global air cargo demand continued to rise in September but slowed from the stronger growth seen in July and August, according to data provider Xeneta.

Demand increased 3pc year on year last month, compared with a 5pc rise in August, while available capacity was up 3pc. The global cargo load factor slipped one percentage point to 59pc.

Xeneta attributed the earlier surge to front-loading and a temporary shift from ocean to air freight amid supply chain uncertainty. “September’s data is an early indication that this is lessening as some stability starts to return on major corridors,” said Niall van de Wouw, Xeneta’s chief airfreight officer.
