Dhaka: Air Traffic Controllers Association of Bangladesh (ATCAB) joined the global aviation community to celebrate International Air Traffic Controller Day.

The day is dedicated to recognize the vital role played by air traffic controllers (ATCOs) in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and regularity of air transport worldwide.

This year’s observance was held at Sky line Restaurant of RAOWA Complex on October 20 in a befitting and festive manner, bringing together air traffic controllers from across Bangladesh — from airports, radar, and area control centers — to honor their commitment, professionalism, and dedication to maintain safe skies for all.

ATCAB President MA Akkas, General Secretary ATM Nazrul Islam, and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Member ATM Air Commodore Md Noor-e- Alam spoke on the occasion.

Speakers highlighted the importance of teamwork, continuous training, and modernization of air traffic management systems in meeting the growing demands of Bangladesh’s rapidly expanding aviation sector. They commended the vigilance and expertise of controllers who ensure hundreds of safe flights daily across the country’s airspace.

Speakers also expressed their satisfaction for the introduction of State of the Art CNS – ATM RADAR system and commissioning of new ATC Tower Building at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital. They also advised to extend the Flight Information Region (FIR) covering EEZ areas and if required to establish two FIRs in the country.

The program featured a commemorative seminar, cultural segments, and recognition of outstanding performers, along with reflections on international cooperation and technological advancements in air traffic management.
