Akasa Air upgrades pet policy

Dhaka: India’s Akasa Air has upgraded its Pets on Akasa service, allowing two pets in the cabin per flight, up from one, and reducing the advance booking window from 48 to 24 hours.

The changes aim to provide greater convenience and flexibility to pet owners, the airline said in a statement.

Since launching the service in November 2022, Akasa has flown over 8,500 pets.

Earlier in May 2024, the airline raised the in-cabin pet weight limit to 10 kg (including the container) and extended the validity of pet travel certificates to 15 days.

Passengers travelling with pets receive complimentary value-added services, including a pre-booked window seat, priority check-in and baggage delivery, and boarding first.

Akasa has also conducted staff training and partnered with Gurgaon-based Umeed for Animals Foundation to improve pet care standards.

Pets on Akasa currently operates across 24 Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
