Etihad and Vietnam airlines ink codeshare deal

Dhaka: Etihad Airways and Vietnam Airlines have launched a codeshare partnership to expand travel options between the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam, supporting Etihad’s recently introduced Abu Dhabi–Hanoi service.

The agreement allows passengers seamless access to Vietnam’s domestic destinations and popular points across Asia with a single ticket, one check-in, and automatic baggage transfer.

Under the codeshare, Vietnam Airlines passengers can connect beyond Abu Dhabi to six destinations—Athens, Addis Ababa, Bahrain, Muscat, Cairo, and Istanbul—linking Vietnam with the Middle East, Europe, and Africa through Etihad’s global network.

Etihad Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De said the partnership “delivers significant value to our guests” and transforms the Abu Dhabi–Hanoi route into “a gateway to Vietnam’s most exciting cities,” adding that the collaboration complements the airlines’ frequent-flyer partnership.

Vietnam Airlines Director of Corporate Planning and Development Nguyen Quang Trung said the agreement builds on a 2024 Memorandum of Understanding and enhances convenience, broadens destination choices, and strengthens tourism and economic ties between Vietnam and the UAE.

The airlines’ frequent-flyer partnership, launched in July 2025, allows Etihad Guest and Lotusmiles members to earn and redeem miles across both networks. The codeshare will be implemented progressively.
