flydubai launches flights to Riga

Dhaka: Dubai-based carrier flydubai has inaugurated its first direct service to Riga, Latvia, operating three times a week between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Riga Airport (RIX).

The inaugural flight was welcomed by Riga Airport officials, marking a new air link between the UAE and Latvia.

UAE Ambassador to Latvia Noora Juma said the service opens a “new phase” in bilateral relations, boosting tourism, business and cultural exchange while strengthening economic ties.

flydubai’s Divisional Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, said the Riga route supports the airline’s strategy of expanding connectivity to underserved European markets and reinforces its commitment to investing in fleet, services and onboard products.

The Riga launch follows the start of nonstop services to Chișinău in Moldova, Iași in Romania and Vilnius in Lithuania, expanding flydubai’s European network to 35 destinations in 20 countries.

RIX Riga Airport Chairperson Laila Odiņa said the new Dubai connection enhances the Baltics’ largest airport’s connectivity, supports tourism and business links, and offers travellers access to flydubai’s wider network, while opening the Baltic and Scandinavian region to visitors from the UAE.
