Dhaka : Dubai-based Emirates has suspended flights from Bangladesh till August 7, while Abu-Dhabi based Etihad Airlines' flights remain suspended 'till further notice'.
Emirates Airlines on July 28 announced that flights from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have been suspended till August 7, given the current pandemic situation.
The airline said the move follows the directives of UAE government regarding travel ban on these South Asian countries.
"In line with UAE government's directives, Emirates will be suspending the carriage of passengers from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to Dubai until August 7, 2021. Furthermore, passengers who have connected through Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE," said Emirates in a statement.
Earlier, another UAE carrier, Etihad Airlines suspended its flights from these countries till further notice. And no official date of the resumption has been released by the airline yet.
In a statement, Etihad mentioned, "Following the recent update our flights from these countries have been suspended until further notice. As soon as we receive an official communication of changes to this regulation, our website will be updated. Do stay tuned for the latest travel information."
Emirates launches passenger services to Miami
Emirates is connecting global business and leisure travellers with it's first-ever passenger service between Dubai and Miami. The inaugural flight touched down at Miami Airport on July 22.
The airline is now operating four  times a week with its three-class Boeing 777-300ER on the route, featuring eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie flat seats in Business Class and 304 spacious seats in Economy Class.
Along with Orlando, the new service to Miami provides an additional access point to and from Florida and expands Emirates' US network to 12 destinations on over 70 weekly flights, providing more choice and convenient connections from the Emirates network to Southern Florida. It also links travellers from Miami, as well as Southern Florida, South America and the Caribbean to over 50 points across the Middle East, West Asia, Africa, Far East and the Indian Ocean Islands via Dubai.
As international borders reopen and travel restrictions ease, Emirates continues to expand its network safely and sustainably. The airline has resumed passenger services to over 120 destinations and by the end of July, it will have recovered close to 90 per cent of its pre-pandemic network.
