10 women honored with ATJFB Aviator Women's Icon Award

Dhaka: Ten women with illustrious careers were honored with ATJFB Aviatour Women's Icon Award 2025 for their contributions in Bangladesh's aviation and tourism sectors during a ceremony held in the capital on March 20.  

The award is organized annually by Aviation and Tourism Journalists' Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB). This year was the second edition of the event.

Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar, and Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Nasrin Jahan presented the awards at the second edition of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Adviser Farida Akhtar said, this initiative of ATJFB will open new opportunities for women.

“The ten women I saw today have already established themselves in their respective fields, and now they will inspire and encourage other women in the society,” she added.

Nasrin Jahan, Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, also praised the initiative, saying, “ATJFB’s effort is commendable. Such initiatives will drive women towards even greater success in the future.”

First Officer Fariha Tabassum of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was recognized in the Pilot category, while Biman's Engineering Officer Tahmina Akter received the award in the Aeronautical Engineer category.

In the Aviation Ground Services category, Manager of Ground Services of Biman Nilufa Yasmin won the accolade, while Biman's Flight Steward Jinia Islam was recognized in the Cabin Crew category.

Additional Superintendent of Police Nadia Farzana of Tourist Police was honored in the Tourism Security category.

Hotel Sarina Chairperson Sabera Sarwar Nina won in the Hotel Entrepreneur category, while the Founder and CEO of Wonder Woman Sabira Mehrin Saba won the award in the Tourism Entrepreneur category.

Head of Business Development and Corporate Affairs of Galaxy Bangladesh Wamiya Walid was recognized in the Promising Entrepreneur category.

In the Journalism category, Baishakhi TV Joint Editor Rita Nahar won the award in the Travel category.

Meanwhile, traveler Nazmun Nahar, the first Bangladeshi to carry the national flag to 178 countries, was also honored at the event.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Md Manzur Kabir Bhuiyan, Biman CEO and MD Shafiqur Rahman, industry representatives, and members of ATJFB including President Tanzim Anwar and General Secretary Baten Biplob, were also present on the occasion.
