Dhaka: Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma paid a courtesy call on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanum Rita on Thursday, April 9, where both sides emphasized strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat also joined the meeting, read a social media post of the Indian High Commission.
During the meeting, the two sides held discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the civil aviation sector, with a strong focus on improving air connectivity, increasing air cargo capacity, and upgrading aviation infrastructure.
They also explored opportunities for capacity building to support the development of Bangladesh’s aviation sector.
The High Commissioner briefed the ministers on major developments in India’s aviation sector, noting that India is currently the fastest-growing civil aviation market in the world.
He highlighted that this growth presents significant opportunities for cooperation, particularly in strengthening connectivity and advancing Bangladesh’s aviation sector based on mutual interest and benefit.
The meeting underscored the importance of closer collaboration in air transport links, which could facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people connectivity between the two neighboring countries.
