Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines will be operating an additional flight frequency on Dhaka-Madina-Dhaka route every Sunday from February 2, 2025, to meet the increased demand of Saudi Arabia bound passengers.
“We have decided to operate an additional weekly flight to Madina following Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh’s request,” said Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO, Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The move follows a meeting between Biman and a delegation from ATAB led by its President Abdus Salam Aref.
At the meeting, airfare hike, particularly for Middle Eastern destinations, was addressed.
In response to ATAB’s appeal, the flag carrier decided to introduce an additional flight frequency to meet the growing demand of air travel on Dhaka-Madina route.
At the meeting, ATAB also stressed that bulk sale and hoarding of tickets by airlines without requiring names, passports, or visas have significantly contributed to the spike in airfare.
