Dhaka: Bus services from Gazipur to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka will formally be inaugurated on December 16 under the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. However, the full service is expected to commence by June, 2025.
Ehsanul Haque, Senior Secretary of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, made the announcement after inspecting the BRT project at Shibabari BRT station in Gazipur on December 7.
The project has incurred significant costs and delays, informed Haque, adding, the public is eagerly awaiting the service.
Currently, two air-conditioned buses are running on trial basis on the Shibabari-Dhaka Airport route, with the formal launch is scheduled for December 16.
