Dhaka: After nearly one and a half decades, a passenger aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will once again land in Pakistan as direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi resume from Thursday, January 28.

According to Biman’s spokesperson Bosra Islam, the first direct flight will depart Dhaka at 8:00 pm on Thursday. She said the launch of the nonstop service will significantly reduce travel time and help passengers save up to Tk 30,000 per person by eliminating transit costs.

Initially, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate two flights per week on this route. The flights will be operated every Thursday and Saturday using a 162-seat Boeing 737 aircraft to cover the 1,471-mile distance between Dhaka and Karachi.

Biman authorities confirmed that all tickets for the inaugural flight have been sold out, while more than 80 percent of seats for the second flight have already been booked.

Bosra Islam added that with the introduction of direct flights, passengers will be able to reach their destination within three hours and enjoy a more comfortable journey without the hassle of transit stops.
