Dhaka: The joint venture between Dubai’s multinational logistics company DP World and Pakistani state-owned logistics company National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has transported over 1,000 containers between Bangladesh and Pakistan since the opening of the first direct shipping route between the two countries in October 2024.
The most recent shipment onboard the MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan—sailing from Karachi—is scheduled to arrive at Bangladesh’s Chattogram Port in January 2025 with a variety of goods such as textile fabrics, agriculture products, and industrial raw materials, said reports, adding, the move demonstrates the importance of the service in promoting regional trade.
For importers and exporters, the new direct sea link between Bangladesh and Pakistan offers substantial advantages, such as a more dependable competitive logistics solution, enhanced connectivity by doing away with transshipment, and a more than 50 per cent reduction in transit times, further mentioned reports.
The service has already made a number of successful journeys and has been appreciated by the business communities in both nations, concluded reports.
