Four Gulf ministers speak with Bangladesh FM over migrants’ safety

Dhaka: Foreign ministers and state ministers of four Gulf countries held separate telephone conversations with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on Monday, March 2, focusing primarily on the safety and security of Bangladeshi migrants amid the ongoing regional tensions.

The calls were made by Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah of Kuwait, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani of Bahrain, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, and Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi of Qatar, read a press release.

During the discussions, the Gulf leaders assured that necessary measures have been taken to ensure the overall safety, protection, and welfare of Bangladeshi nationals residing in their respective countries. They described Bangladeshi migrants as hardworking, law-abiding, and responsible, and acknowledged their significant contribution to the local economies.

The ministers also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of two Bangladeshi nationals and injuries to seven others in the ongoing conflict, reaffirming their commitment to protecting civilians. They thanked Bangladesh for expressing solidarity during this difficult time and reiterated the strong and longstanding ties between Bangladesh and their countries.
