Dhaka: The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate visa extensions for Bangladeshi workers who returned home from the Middle East on leave but are now unable to travel back due to the ongoing conflict.
In a message circulated to media on Monday, March 9, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said many workers who came to Bangladesh for vacation are currently stranded as flights and travel routes have been disrupted because of the war.
As a result, the visas of several expatriate workers have already expired while they remain in the country.
The ministry said it has formally requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Bangladesh) to take necessary diplomatic steps to ensure that the affected workers receive visa extensions so that they can return to their workplaces in Middle Eastern countries without complications.
