Dhaka: Ongoing tensions in the Middle East have led to the suspension of several international flights, leaving many Umrah pilgrims stranded at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Flights to and from Amman, Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Bahrain were put on hold amid security concerns in the region. As a result, numerous pilgrims who had arrived at the airport after completing preparations for their sacred journey found themselves facing sudden uncertainty.

Airport authorities and relevant agencies are working to manage the situation and provide updated information to affected passengers.

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad personally visited the airport to assess the situation, read a press release. During his visit, he spoke with stranded pilgrims, listened to their concerns, and assured them that the government is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East.

The minister said that the safety and welfare of passengers remain the government’s top priority. He added that coordination with the relevant authorities is ongoing to ensure that flights resume as soon as the situation stabilizes.

Calling on pilgrims to remain patient, he assured them that the government stands beside them during this challenging time and is committed to facilitating their journey at the earliest possible opportunity.
