Dhaka: Qatar Airways Cargo has increased belly-hold cargo capacity on flights to and from Dhaka, alongside new freighter services in Europe, new passenger destinations in South America, and relaunched routes to Helsinki and Tokyo as part of a broader 12 percent expansion of its global network.
In a statement, the airline said it now carries over 315 tons of belly-hold cargo each way to and from Dhaka per week. The capacity increase came as Qatar Airways launched a third passenger service, QR642, raising the total to 17 weekly flights from 14.
On the freighter front, Qatar Airways Cargo relaunched Boeing 777F freighter services to Vienna, operating on the Doha–Budapest–Vienna–Doha route. A second 777F service was also added to Warsaw, operating via Budapest, unlocking additional capacity on both European corridors.
In the Americas, new passenger services to Caracas in Venezuela and Bogotá in Colombia will commence on July 22. Dallas increased to 10 weekly flights from 7, while New York and São Paulo each rose to 14 weekly flights from 11. Houston grew to 5 weekly flights from 3 and is backed by 2 weekly freighter services, bringing total weekly cargo capacity each way to 228 tons.
In Asia, Hong Kong increased to 14 weekly passenger flights from 10, supported by 42 weekly freighter services offering a combined capacity of over 4,400 tons each way. Kathmandu rose to 21 weekly flights from 14. Kuala Lumpur will also rise to 21 weekly flights from 14, effective June 16.
Shanghai will increase to 10 weekly flights from 7, effective June 1, supported by 8 weekly freighter services. Tokyo Haneda will relaunch on July 16 with 4 weekly flights, scaling to 7 weekly from August 1.
In Europe, passenger services to Helsinki will relaunch on July 15 with 4 weekly flights, also rising to 7 weekly from August 1. Istanbul increased to 17 weekly passenger flights from 14. Vienna also saw its passenger services grow to 7 weekly from 4.
In Africa, Addis Ababa saw its passenger service upgraded from Boeing 787 to 777, while Tunis increased to 10 weekly flights from 7.
In the Middle East, Amman and Beirut each doubled their weekly passenger services to 14 flights. Dammam increased to 21 weekly flights from 14. Baghdad and Basra were relaunched with wide-body passenger services.
Qatar Airways Cargo said all its products are available on these flights and can be booked through the air freight carrier’s Digital Lounge and local sales agents.
