Dhaka: The “Road to Makkah” initiative for Hajj pilgrims was officially inaugurated on the night of April 17 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroz Khanam.
The inauguration ceremony, held at 9:00 pm, was also attended by State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, and the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Abdullah ibn Dhafer ibn Ubayya, read a press release.
Following the inauguration, the minister and the state minister exchanged greetings with the Hajj pilgrims by presenting flowers and sought their prayers for the nation.
The “Road to Makkah” initiative, introduced by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, is a special service designed to ease the journey of pilgrims.
Under this initiative, key formalities such as immigration clearance, passport verification, and health checks are completed in the pilgrims’ home country before departure, significantly reducing processing time upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
The initiative is expected to ensure smoother and more efficient travel for Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims this year.
