Dhaka : Visa has emerged as the most popular credit card in Bangladesh, according to data from Bangladesh Bank.
As per the central bank's latest data, Bangladeshis increased their credit card spending within the country by BDT 787.4 crore, or 27 percent in March 2025, compared to February 2025, amid the ongoing inflation.
Consumers spent BDT 3,755.7 crore using credit cards domestically in March 2025, up from BDT 2,968.3 crore in the previous month.
Now, visa topped the list of cards with a transaction of BDT 2,698 crore in March 2025, marking a market share of 71.8 percent-the highest of all.
Mastercard came second with a transaction of BDT 657.4 crore in the same month and a market share of 17.5 percent.
Amex followed Mastercard with a transaction of BDT 390.6 crore and a market share of 10.4 percent in March 2025.
Diners Club International came forth with a transaction of BDT 4.6 crore and a market share of 0.12 percent.
Unionpay came fifth with a transaction of BDT 3.6 crore and a market share of 0.10 percent.
Other credit cards made up for BDT 1.4 crore worth of transaction in March 2025, with a market share of 0.03 percent.
