Air India and Scoot sign interline deal

Dhaka: Air India has entered a unilateral interline partnership with Scoot, the budget carrier subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), the airline said on Friday.

The agreement will extend Air India’s network to more than 70 destinations across 18 countries in Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Australia via Singapore.

Passengers can book onward flights with Scoot from Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai on a single ticket with checked baggage.

New destinations not covered under existing partnerships include Macau SAR; Padang and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia; Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, Ipoh, Kuantan, Miri, Sibu, Malacca, and Kota Bharu in Malaysia; Davao and Iloilo in the Philippines; Koh Samui, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai in Thailand; and Nha Trang and Phu Quoc in Vietnam.

“Asia Pacific remains the world’s fastest-growing region for aviation, with intra-regional air travel demand surging,” Air India Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal said.

“Our new interline partnership with Scoot meets the rising Indian traveller appetite for seamless access to far-flung corners of the continent.”

Scoot Chief Commercial Officer Calvin Chan said the partnership broadens travel options for Indian customers and connects them to Scoot’s extensive network via Singapore.

Air India operates 49 weekly flights between India and Singapore, including thrice-daily services from Delhi and twice-daily flights from Mumbai and Chennai.

The interline deal complements Air India’s existing codeshare arrangement with Star Alliance partner Singapore Airlines.
